National Coop Summit '12 in full swing

As the month of October draws near, the whole cooperative community is gearing up for what will be a special Cooperative Month celebration. Cagayan de Oro is fortunate to be hosting the National Cooperative Summit, a gathering of different coops from all parts of the country, which will be held on October 10-12, 2012 at The Atrium, Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City.

What makes this summit significant is the recognition of Cagayan de Oro as one the hubs for cooperativism in the country as well as the United Nation (UN) declaring "2012" as the International Year of Cooperatives. The First Community Cooperative (FICCO), Cooperative Development Authority  (CDA), CLIMBS Life & General Insurance Cooperative,  MASS-SPECC, NATCCO and the Philippine Federation of Credit Cooperatives (PFCCO) Mindanao League serves as the local hosts for the said summit. Several events and activities have been slated catering to the pressing concerns and needs of the cooperative sector. For detailed list of events and activities, click here.

Cooperatives have always been partners in poverty alleviation and nation building. This year’s celebration not only recognizes the importance and significance of coops but also serves as an invitation for people who are still non-coop members to join in the initiative. Our coop network is continually growing with more people understanding that through the spirit of cooperativism, we can all concretely contribute to socio-economic change.
