In 1991, Simbayanan ni Maria Foundation, Inc. (SMFI) was registered as a non-stock, non-profit organization, as the parish church’s response to poverty in Taguig, with Fr. Antonio C.T. Pascual or Fr. Anton to his parishioners, a parish priest of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary from 1988 to 1992, as its founding Chairman. It offered programs on health services, nutrition, skills training, and job placement as well as college scholarships. 

This foundation spun off the Simbayanan ni Maria Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SMMPC) to develop and undertake socio-economic programs and activities for the improvement of the quality of life of the people of Lower Bicutan and adjacent barangays in Taguig. 

 In 1992, Fr. Anton was assigned to Makati City. Believing that the cooperative would collapse if the next parish priest did not have social orientation, the Board decided to take SMMPC out of the jurisdiction of the parish church and transformed SMMPC into a community-based cooperative. 

The SMMPC Board-cum-Pastoral Council was maintained while a new set of officers was appointed to the Parish Pastoral Council. Though still in Makati in 1995, Fr. Anton was elected SMMPC Chairman.

Duterte: Man of His Word

Duterte will definitely do what he says he will do!

On his decision which I personally don't like but all the respect. From the beginning he was always  consistent but my heart wants otherwise, that's why im a bit frustrated, its because i don't want to hear him say "I'm not running for President", and this reality was unaceptable or perhaps, my expectations are too much for a person who know too well of himself and his limitations.

To you Mayor Duterte, I salute. 

A sigh of relief for other politician/s who treat him as a clear threat to their candidacy and their party.  A decent way to celebrate secretly, of course. I'm not really underestimating other candidates, as I believe they can serve the country well and maybe improve the lives of the people. But change? may be I will leave that to the people themselves once an elected President is already reigning.

A Call To All. If we desire a person to run and believe with all our heart he could have CREATE A CHANGE in our Country but at the moment choose to serve in his own way he believe he could effectively do, aren't we supposed to respect that?

If we ask ourselves, What have i done to make my City great? What Am I going to do to help my community? What have I done so far?

Long Live the Philippines. None will really have the heart to make this great but we Filipino's ourselves.

I do not want to raise false hopes but I would consider myself extremely insensitive if I do not share with the millions of Filipinos the latest updates on the Duterte Presidency.

Yes, I am confirming that following the latest public announcement of Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte that his options were retirement or staying on as Mayor, there were frantic efforts by people close to the family to save the Presidential dream.

And the efforts appear to be paying off.

Yesterday, Duterte's daughter, Sara, who had been unfairly accused as "selfish" because of she reportedly opposed the Presidential endorsement for her father posted positive lines in her social media account.

In fairness to Sara, she is not actually opposed to the idea of her father becoming President.

She, however, refused to be lured back into politics again and declared that she wanted to have a quiet private life with her family.

Sara's refusal to heed her father's request for her to run as Mayor of Davao City could be one of the reasons behind the reluctance of the older Duterte to vie for the Presidency.

A pragmatic politician, Duterte believes that while there is a noisy movement asking him to run for President, it would not be an easy contest.

Given the fact that he does not like to ask money from traditional political funders and that he is running under a lean political party, PDP Laban, Duterte knows he could lose the contest for the Presidency.

"I might be like a plane who takes off and comes back finding that he has no more airport to land in," he told TV5's Mia Reyes.

Duterte has always been passionate with Davao City and its people and he believes that it should be handled by somebody who shares his vision for the city.

As of yesterday, it appeared that things were going smoothly and that the family could settle the question on who would take over the leadership of the city.

The options are limited to Sara and her older brother, Paolo, who is the incumbent Vice Mayor.

Everything seems to be falling into proper places and even Duterte's bitter political enemies in the City, the Nograleses, appear to be helpful in resolving the problem.

Congressman Karlo Nograles, son of former speaker Prospero Nograles who is the object of Duterte's disdain over the past two decades, filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for Congress early on Monday, effectively dashing rumors that he would challenge a Duterte for the mayorship of Davao.
The only issue that is going to be addressed now would be the question raised by Mayor Duterte himself when we were almost at the verge of convincing him to backtrack from his earlier pronouncements rejecting the Presidency and announcement that he was heeding the people's call.

"How would people react if, after saying twice (thrice including Monday's press conference) that I would not run for President, I suddenly face the people and say Ok, I'm running?," Duterte asked.

I assured Mayor Duterte that "the only people who would not like to see you backtrack from your earlier pronouncements would be the people who don't like you to become President."

I told him that there would be a greater number of Filipinos who would prefer that he changes his mind and declares that he was yielding to the call of the people.

Again, I don't want to raise false hopes. I am sharing with the readers of this page of the latest development in the dream to bring ‪#‎TunayNaPagbabago‬ to the Philippines.

Maybe, just maybe, this is the sign of a Divine Intervention.

How do I begin?

Perhaps, it is best that I first bow my head and beg for your forgiveness for taking you on a ride and making you believe in a beautiful dream.

We all dreamed of a President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, The Punisher, Incorruptible, All-Embracing and Inclusive Leader, Federalism Advocate, Tough Enforcer of the Law, and Compassionate Father.

He would neutralize drug dealers and criminals, send to the execution room the plunderers, kidnappers, rapists, create millions of jobs with the development of the countryside through a Federal system of government and lift the farmers from poverty through a market-oriented agricultural program.

In many instances, Duterte made all of us believe that the dream could be real with his hypothetical "If I were President..." statements.

Yesterday, however, the dream ended in a surprising twist.

For the third time, which I believe could also be the last time, Duterte again said he wanted a quiet life and the Presidency was not for him.

Shock and disappointment are both understatements to describe what I and millions of other Filipinos who believed in him felt yesterday.

It was an unexpected turn of events because earlier, we, who belonged to the small group of Duterte friends, had already prepared a plan on what to do before and on Oct. 15 when he would file his Certificate of Candidacy before the COMELEC in Manila.

Of course, the thought that he would decide not to run for President was considered in the planning, although it was categorised as a remote possibility.

I had my reasons to really believe that he had been swayed by the people's call for him to run for President because a week earlier I volunteered to write a draft his acceptance speech.

About two hours before the press conference yesterday, I emailed a copy of the draft to his trusted aide Christopher "Bong" Go and I had a hardcopy in my hand going to the press conference.

Seeing a one-page statement in his hand as he sat in the centre table for the press conference, I felt I was stabbed in the heart.

I knew there was not going to be an acceptance speech.

What brought about the unexpected turn of events yesterday?

I believe it was influenced by the temerity of some people who assumed they could influence and pressure Duterte into making a decision.

In an earlier interview with DWIZ's Karambola hosts, I said that the possibility of Duterte backing off was still there especially so since some people were jumping the gun on him and pre-empting his moves.

Even before he could formally announce his decision on whether to run or not, tarpaulin streamers announcing his partnership with a Vice Presidential candidate were seen all over Metro Manila.

At a time when he was telling the people that he was still going through the painful process of making a decision, a self-proclaimed political adviser issued an "official" statement that Duterte was definitely running.

While we all believed he was running, a statement that he was running coming from a "political adviser" made Duterte look foolish and a liar.

Knowing Duterte, he does not like to be influenced into making a decision and I know he was bothered by the "official" announcement that he was running because he issued a press statement denying it.

He seldom does that especially when the press statements are products of people who really understand him and whom he trusts.

Duterte, who zealously protects his reputation as an independent-minded individual, was actually faced with serious predicaments.

There is the problem on how to finance a national campaign without submitting himself to the dictates of the traditional political funders.

He also talks about his age and his health problems caused by a motorcycle fall several years ago.

And there is the worry on what would become Davao City should he leave it to run for a national position.

"I might be like a plane who takes off and comes back finding that he has no more airport to land in," he told TV5's Mia Reyes.

There are reports that he failed to convince his daughter, former Mayor Sarah Duterte-Carpio, to take over the mayorship of the City.

The premature announcement apparently served as the last straw that broke the camel's back.

So this is where are now. The beautiful dream ends.

Is there still a glimmer of hope that Duterte would change his mind at the last minute?

"Only when there is Divine intervention," I told media people who asked me that question yesterday.

Just like millions of Filipinos, I grieve over the decision of Duterte not to run for President.

It is not because I wanted my friend to become President but simply because Duterte offered hope of a better life for the Filipino people.

That is now a far-fetched dream, even more remotely possible than a Duterte Presidency.

I deeply apologize to all the followers and readers of this page for raising false hopes and for trying to weave a beautiful dream that we all wished would come true.

I will continue writing in this page and sharing with you my thoughts on issues involving our daily lives.

Honestly, I really thought this page would be part of history with the making of a President who changed the country and made it one of the greatest nations on earth.

It is not going to be. I am sorry.

What Is The Difference Between A Rural Bank And A Cooperative Bank?

There are a lot of different types of Banks in the Philippines. We have a Universal Bank, Commercial Bank, A Savings Bank, A Thrift Bank, A Rural Bank and a Cooperative Bank.

Rural Bank and Cooperative Banks are group together but what really is the difference between the two?






Well the primary difference between the two lies on its Capital Common Stock component. A Rural Bank owner/investors can be an individual person, while the Common Stock owners of a Cooperative Banks are primary cooperatives. Thus, if you are a member of this primary cooperative/s then to a certain extent you are also the owner of the cooperative bank.

FICCO Opens Office in Quezon City

Quezon City, the First Community Cooperative will open a new office in Quezon City. Total offices of FICCO all over the country now reached 77. If you are from Quezon City, the long wait is now over, you may visit the office and tell your neighbor/s to become a member of FICCO.

Sari sari Store Training and Access to Resources (STAR PROGRAM)

The STAR program is a partnership between COKE - TESDA - FICCO (financing institutions) and Women Sari sari Store Owners. The objective of the program is to empower women who are small store owners, and other entrepreneurial women. For the STAR project in Mindanao the aim is to empower 50,000 women by 2020. conversely this is 10,000 women per year for the next 5 years and this challenge taken by the CEO of FICCO Mr Edgardo Micayabas during the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement at Marco Polo Hotel in Davao. 






The empowerment involves building and equipping of the women participants with store management, accounting and recording to keep track of operation, and exchange of ideas and interactions with other women entrepreneur. These equipping stage shall be done by the TESDA.

The First Community Cooperative (FICCO) after the women graduate from the TESDA will provide the financing which is the access to resources stage of the program. these women will be provided by low interest loans from FICCO and shall be accepted members of FICCO once they undergo Pre-membership semnar which is also part of the equipping stage of the women.

In Tagum the women association partner is the Tagum City Council of Womens Inc (TCCWI) headed by their President Mrs Alma Uy, who were also present during the signing of the MOA.

How To Deposit or Pay Loans to FICCO Using GCash

Every FICCO branches displays process by which a member can pay loans or deposit to FICCO using their mobile phones through GCash. I wonder how many people actually use this facility. Its very convenient but I observed this service is one of the unexercise process. It could be that members are used to go to FICCO and pay or they don't know how to use this facility.

Here's my part during the signing of the MOA.

MCN Managers Forum at Pinnacle Hotel

I am very grateful for MCN for giving their trust on me to become a speaker in the MCN Managers Forum held in Pinnacle Hotel Davao City. It was participated by different Cooperative Managers in Mindanao.

There were 3 speakers invited, I was the first with my topic on "Achieving the Balance Between Profitability and Risk in the Coop Lending Operation", the second speaker was Hazel Catadman of Silangan MPC with her topic on "Prudence and Quality Membership: Keys To a Healthy Portfolio", and the last speaker was  George Pupa from United Sugar Planters Development (USPD) his topic was "Dealing with Competition Amidst Plunging Rates and Market Over Crowding".



MCN also invited a panel of reactors from the Ateneo de Davao Academe, I forgot the name but I'll post it once I get from MCN, sorry.

A meat loan or whatever it will be called later is its cure for distribution process.

What is Class A Member in FICCO?

Para ma Class A, Here's what you need to do:

1 - Deposit regularly (monthly). Ayaw lang pud na Php 100 kay 80 man MBA gamay kaau mabilin.
2 - Pay loans on time (meaning on the day of due date). So this is monthly amortization.
3 - Attend FICCO activities (General Assembly lang ang key ani) because GA involves all membership so the basis is only the GA, don't be absent sa GA lagi
4 - Avail FICCO services, the last I know we need to avail at least 5 FICCO services. So what are these? Deposit, Loans, MBA, Fleet card, SM card, Memorial Plan, FCOF Associate Membership (not sure on this), Coop Health, and Basta kung naay service sa FICCO and you participated that counts.

Easy lang kaau magpa Class A Member.

How Much Is The Loanable Amount for Class B Member for FICCO?

FICCO Class B Member can avail Regular Loan, Petty Cash Loan, LAD, and Rice but remember these can be availed one at a time since Class B are allowed one loan only, except if there are still free deposits that are not encumbered or lock in with other loans

So how is Class B multiple computed? its very easy, Here's the formula.

Share Deposit X 190% = Share Loanable Amount
Savings Deposit X 210% = Savings Loanable Amount

Share Loanable + Savings Loanable = Total Loanable Amount

Unsecured  is not more than Php 60,000
Secured by Real Estate Mortgage (Yuta - bisdak) up to Php 500,000

Pag ma Class A mas Hayahay, Basta Maau lang jud ta mag bayad.

What is Class B FICCO Member?

Class B is divided into 2
1 - Class B - FTTB
2 - Class B - Reloaner

Allow me to explain the two. The class B FTTB is also called the Class B First Time To Borrow (FTTB) meaning these are the members who just finish the 4 months probationary member period and 3,500 deposit (3,000 Share and 500 savings) at least.

The Class B reloaner are obviously class B who availed loans more than once.

Public Consultation on Proposed Repeal of Article 60 and 61 of RA 9520

The Cooperative Development Authority is conducting a public consultation on the proposed repeal of the Art 60 and 61 of RA 9520 at the Homitori Davao, Bangoy St.

The purpose of the public consultation is to get the sentiments or views of the cooperatives on the proposed Fiscal Incentives Rationalization Act which intends to repeal certain laws granting tax exemption privileges including Art 60 and 61 of RA 9520.

Ultimate output of this consultation is to come up with a unified position paper of the cooperative sector on the issue.
